The great state of Alaska is one of the true final frontiers on the planet with vast tracts of wilderness, snowcapped mountains, tundra flats, heavy forests, rivers and streams and its rugged coastline is longer than the other 49 states combined. Alaska is a major destination for rugged adventurers traveling to the back country for hunting big game, fishing for trout and salmon, photographing the primal landscape or just to observe the multitude of wildlife in its natural state. Alaska is huge with very few roads and much of the travel around the state is accomplished by bush plane. Bush planes can be chartered from all the populated coastal regions and they fly into frigid alpine lakes, fishing lodges by crystal streams and hunting camps throughout the state. Charter boats can be hired not only for fishing trips, but for wildlife viewing along the coastline.
Alaska has a wide diversity of wildlife to view; the great Brown bears can be observed feeding on salmon in many areas, majestic moose are found along rivers and mountain lakes, caribou migrate over vast tundra plains and ocean travelers are overwhelmed by a plethora of marine life. For wildlife viewing, Alaska is number one.
