Alaska has some of the most amazing National Parks in the United States. Denali National Park is a fantastic place for mountain climbing, hiking or backpacking. The breathtaking views are worth your visit, and you can view massive glaciers as well as wildlife. Grizzly bears, wolves, caribou and moose make for some excellent photos.
Kenai Fjords National Park consists of beautiful valleys that were carved from glaciers. The sea waters now fill these valleys, and are a spectacular sight that you won’t see anywhere else. The hiking trails will take you through glaciers for some rewarding surprises.
Gates of the Arctic National Park is the home to the last of the Nunamiut Eskimo, and while visiting the Park you may encounter some of the local residents picking berries, trapping animals, fishing or hunting. These activities are part of their daily lives, and their privacy should be respected at all times.
Katmai National Park is a great location to gaze at volcanoes. At least fourteen volcanoes can be spotted here, and they are all considered active. Wildlife is abundant, especially brown bear, so keep your cameras at hand. This is also the location of some of the world’s largest salmon runs.
